Keeping Dunedin clean and safe is a shared responsibility, and the Dunedin City Council (DCC) provides an efficient kerbside rubbish and recycling collection service to help residents manage their waste effectively. Below, you’ll find everything you need to know about collection schedules, missed collections, bin guidelines, and special services.
If you live in the tertiary area (highlighted to the right), your rubbish and recycling bins are collected every Tuesday. The bins collected include:
Green-lidded food scraps and garden waste bin
Yellow-lidded mixed recycling bin
Blue glass recycling bin
Red-lidded rubbish bin
This weekly collection is part of DCC’s commitment to the Sophia Charter, ensuring a tidy and safe environment.
For areas outside the tertiary zone, rubbish and recycling collections alternate each week. Be sure to check your suburb’s collection schedule to avoid missing a collection. You can check this out by clicking here.
Not sure which bin to use? Check the list below to see where your rubbish belongs. If you can’t find your item on the list, please place it in your red-lidded bin.
